20th Anniversary Celebration
A 20th anniversary celebration day taking place at two venues, a conference in an auditorium and a rooftop celebration with 360 degree views of London.
The Challenge
We were tasked with organising an event to celebrate the client’s 20th anniversary, a conference to include important business updates and an evening celebration rewarding all employees for their hard work over the year. We would be bringing together teams from around the country to London whilst ensuring smooth logistics on the day.

The Approach
After such a successful event last year, we knew it was a hard task to top as the company grew. As it worked well logistically the year before, The Mermaid was once again chosen as the location for the conference. We made sure to implement improvements from last year’s event, both from the event debrief and delegate feedback. For the celebration, after several site visits, Rose Court was confirmed due to its close proximity to the conference venue and stunning 360 degree rooftop with far-reaching views over London.
This year, we made full use of the Mermaid’s versatile spaces to host the conference, with guests being welcomed into the Upper River Room suite for arrival refreshments and pastries. Along with its generous capacity, the professional and stylish auditorium provided the perfect backdrop for key business updates and guest speaker sessions.
With its stunning views over London, we utilised both the Upper and Lower River Rooms for lunch catering to allow for banquet style seating for those who wanted it. The buffet-style lunch was provided with servers to manage portion sizes, helping to minimise food waste and reduce the carbon footprint associated with overconsumption.
For simplicity and to reduce emissions, all attendees would walk from The Mermaid to the Rose Court on a pre-planned route which took them over the Millenium Bridge with iconic views of the city. Once they reached the evening venue, a well-planned check-in process would ensure the 350 guests were able to smoothly enter the building through a dedicated lift entry system.

The Result
Once again, the sun was out for our client’s event as 400 attendees descended upon The Mermaid to come together as a company. As the majority of the attendees had already visited the mermaid, they already felt relaxed and comfortable within the space, and knew where to go. One of the great pros about using a venue again.

When the conference ended, guests walked in the sun to the Rose Court and were wowed by the sights delivered at the Rose Court along with an exquisite selection of food and drink.
Upon arrival, guests were served prosecco and cocktails before exploring the venue and enjoying the sights of London with their friends. A saxophonist and bongo player performed 30 minute sets on the rooftop as guests drank, chatted and enjoyed the sun. Three distinct food stalls were set up serving Spanish, Turkish and Mexican cuisine, offering a choice for all tastes. A 360 degree photobooth was set up to further complement the views.
As the sun started to set, guests began to hit the dancefloor as Rose Court’s resident DJ span hit after hit making the dancefloor come to life with all kinds of shapes. Custom cupcakes were served at the end of night to top off a fun-filled evening.
Feedback was once again excellent. Guests loved the seamless organisation and choice of venue, especially the Rose Court which allowed people to mingle at will in a beautiful setting.
Both the format and content were praised, with a lot of love for the guest speaker. Overall, the feedback scored a 4.67/5 increasing from last year.
